publications, books and magazines.

Air Transport Publications, providing industry insights for air transport executives. Since 2011, I have been creating, re-designing and producing a variety of print and online publications for independent B2B publisher Air Transport Publications. The portfolio includes four printed quarterlies, four industry directories, a monthly newsletter and many brand extensions. Fast turnaround times and a heavy workload mean work is hectic and varied – just the way I like it!

One notable project that has been a constant companion and a great endurance challenge culminating in its launch day early 2013 is the new Air Transport Publications website www.airtransportpubs.com. Designed to promote cross-over advertising and subscriptions between ATP’s different publications, the web appearance is based in interlinked topical news channels and dedicated magazine pages. A coherent brand image across this large number of heterogenous products – all well-known and recognized in their own respespective markets – was achieved by creating a publisher-branded shell, in which the content and its respective sources can shine.

The second project deserving of special mention is ‘Aircraft Cabin Management’. This latest addition to the ATP publications family was a new launch to which I contributed the creative concept, the coroporate identity and the visual appearance, as well as various marketing materials. Random House, looks like a book should, could, would. Following my MSc Publishing, I was delighted with the opportunity to gain some experience, supporting the Random House design team on their book cover work. Many a cover was created during a few short months, some on the way to be published, some rejected, and some still in the loop. Oh, the excitement of seeing them in the shops...

i-on magazine, a capital institution. In April 2010 I was thrilled to join the busy team at i-on magazine Edinburgh for a placement. It was an absolute pleasure contributing to the latest issues of i-on Edinburgh and Glasgow, so I'd like to say thanks for the opportunity.

buzz, the rest is just noise. In 2010, a few of my MSc Publishing course along with a bunch of journalism masters took on the challenge to set up a new magazine. We concepted a local lifestyle magazine for Edinburgh's twenty-somethings, and I gave it a look and feel inspired by European-style design to attract the masses. Copies were available free across town.
